Nokomis Founder One of the Women Moving Millions.
Twink Frey Recognized for pioneer role in Women’s Philanthropy.
This spring, along with numerous other women who have also given generously to women’s funds, Twink Frey was honored for her gift of $18 million to the Nokomis Foundation endowment.
This recognition was part of the Women Moving Millions campaign, a partnership of visionary donors and Women's Funding Network , a global movement of 150 women's and girls' funds that invest in women-led solutions to critical social issues like poverty and global security. The campaign aims to inspire gifts of a million dollars and above in support of women’s funds across the globe. To date, the campaign has raised more than $181 million from 101 donors and 41 women’s funds, exceeding the original goal of $150 million. Efforts are currently underway to expand the campaign to giving circles as well as male donors.
Twink’s gift, which made the establishment of Nokomis Foundation possible, was both courageous at a time when it was not popular to fund women’s issues, and indicative of her unwavering commitment to empowering women to break down the barriers that stand in the way of using their voices to advocate for change.
